External Description:

The Technical Writer & Trainer (TWT) - CONTRACTOR is responsible for writing & publishing technical documentation related to technical how-to videos for field technicians. The TWT - Contractor also provides TRIMEDX technical training to associates at the corporate office and in the field. Training is delivered in a variety of ways, including classroom settings, field-based medical environments, and webinars. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining technical training materials and establishing relationships with internal stakeholders and departments. Other responsibilities include developing and delivering competency-based training on the HTM industry, Trimedx, and medical devices. The Technical Writer Trainer works closely with IT Development teams using the SAFe Agile development methodology.  Additionally, this position requires frequent interaction with operational and compliance teams and could require up to 40% travel. Video editing experience required.

Contractor: This role is for a Contractor, for a fixed duration of time, and will be contracted though our third-party vendor partner agency.  Pay rate for this contract is in the range of $33 per hour.

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana. We are seeking candidates within approximately a 150 mile radius of our Corporate Office. Our Corporate Office (CO) is on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Position is Hybrid: mix of in-office and remote work. Also, open to candidates in the Eastern & Central time zones of the United States with close proximity to a major airport.

Responsibilities          

Technical Writing and Instructional Design

• Lead the writing of technical documents related to how-to video explanations.

• Lead the development and maintenance of training materials based on the technical needs of field technicians and managers.

• Collect and edit video footage from a variety of sources for use in how-to videos and training classes.

• Lead content development for technical training for company-wide training projects (job aids, presentations, user guides)

• Assist in scheduling how-to video releases and technical training events.

Training and Support

• Manage how-to video creation and schedule release to the field.      

• Facilitate instructor-led classroom and web-based technical learning on medical devices, processes, and new solutions for associates as assigned.

• Work with management to gather feedback on training effectiveness and develop training plans and    programs

• Create and manage monthly training schedules to ensure training opportunities meet the needs and demands of field operations.

• Build relationships and collaborate with other internal departments that are dependent on tech training results and outcomes and report out on successes, action items and other information as needed.

• Lead or participate in key initiative projects as defined by the leader of Technical Training.

• Facilitate training for company-wide technical training projects as needed.

• All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in technical writing and training development/delivery in the HTM/Biomed field preferred.
  • Knowledge of videography techniques and editing required
  • Video editing experience required
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required with ability to quickly learn new computer software.
  • Experience with web-based conferencing such as Teams, Adobe Connect, WebEx, or GoToMeeting required.
  • Some Instructional Design experience preferred using Camtasia, GoAnimate, Articulate360, or other educational multimedia production software preferred.
  • Some experience with SAFe Agile software development methodology a plus.
  • Able to present to small (1 on 1) and large groups (100+ attendees), both in-person and virtually.  Able to demonstrate confidence and inspire/motivate others to perform well.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree technical writing, education/training, HTM, hospital administration, or other related field is required, or equivalent experience.
