IT Technical Writer

As an IT Technical Writer, you will prepare written training materials, like standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other associated materials, and will create online training videos, consulting with area experts to gather information and ensure accuracy of the resources. 

In your role as an IT Technical Writer, you will assist in preparing training calendars and other deliverables for the IT Trainer. You will use standard formats to provide materials (as needed) to aid in the IT training process.

• 2 years of experience in technical writing, process documentation, and ability to provide work samples.
• 2 to 4 years of experience using MS Office products, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
• Exceptional proofreading skills and ability to apply correct and consistent formatting to technical documents.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic math skills, (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Must demonstrate ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Satisfactory results from a pre-employment drug screen.
• Satisfactory results from a pre-employment background check.

Working Environment

The typical hours for this role are Monday-Friday 7:00 am-4:00 pm, and weekends as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, sit, work on a computer for extended lengths of time, reach, completed tasks that require finger dexterity. The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Role requires specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee may be asked to work in manufacturing plants. While on the plant or shop floors, the incumbent will be required to wear eye and hearing protection and may expose the incumbent to fumes or airborne particles, heat, toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
